French Radio & Television

French radio & television has a strong reputation for the quality of its content. With the advent of digital television, a wealth of services are now available wether you live in the métropole or in overseas departments and collectivities.

The services outlined in this section are targeted at overseas departments and collectivities of the Caribbean and Northern Atlantic. To determine which service is available in your department or collectivity, please consult our coverage area map.

Public Service Radio & Television

Unlike many countries, where the majority of broadcasters are privately owned, public service television is France's largest broadcaster. The result is better programming and less advertising than what viewers are used to in many countries around the World (especially Canada & the USA).

France's public service television is run by France Télévisions, which runs eight television channels: France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5, France Ô, France 1ière and ARTE.

France Télévisions

Public service radio, is also a very important player on the French mediatic scene. All public service radio stations are controled by Radio France and Radio France Internationale.

Radio France

Private Radio & Television Groups

Three groups (TF1, Canal+ and M6) are responsible for the core of private television offered in France.
