China Central Television (CCTV) is the national TV network of the People's Republic of China.
CCTV has 8 channels operating in China, broadcasting 138 hours of programs daily. The coverage of CCTV-1 reaches over 84% of the total population of China, with the number of regular viewers exceeding 900 million.
With continuous development of the television industry, CCTV has adopted new technology, new techniques and new means to develop popular programs. This includes the conversion to digital in the fall of 2002 for North American CCTV 4 coverage.
CCTV has been serving as a window, through which the world gets a better understanding of China. CCTV Digital (December 2002)
- CCTV announced in June that it is converting its signals to digital before the end of 2002.
- The digital service has been available since July of 2002.
- The analog service will be discontinued on December 31, 2002 (this delay will not be extended).
For existing CCTV viewers
- You will have to upgrade your system with a new digital receiver.
- The antenna, cable & LNBF remain the same and do not need to be adjusted.
